Garden Layout |
How your garden will look after plantation and designing depends on the layouts you choose for your it. The garden layouts and designs may be different for different locations. For example, the layouts for sunny locations will be entirely different from shady locations. So, if you don't want to waste your time and efforts, select appropriate garden layout and plan well before actually starting plantation work.
The garden layout you choose may depend on several factors, such as the size and location of the site as well as the types of crops you want to grow in it. For a vegetable garden, it is a common practice to select the backyard of your home while you can also find other suitable areas near your residing place. The size of your garden will depend on the factors like the space available for the purpose and the amount of space your chosen crops will require.
Measure the area of the allotted space and draw your own garden layout on a graph paper. While drawing keep in mind the individual attributes of the plants you are planning to grow. Some plants grow properly in shady environment while most require sufficient sunlight for healthy growth. To make this happen, you can plan your garden in such a way that the largest plants are placed in the northern side of the gardening area, the medium-sized plants in the central part and the smallest in the southern side of the area.
With a blueprint of your garden layout, you are all set to start the work of soil preparation and plantation. If, however, you decide to alter you plan or change one or more crop later, you can incorporate the same in the layout. You will also find it helpful to use garden layout software, guides and tools to get new ideas and fresh plans.
There are other things to consider while planning your gardening layouts.
- If you have pets or have children who plays soccer or baseball in the backyard , you have to consider a way not to let them run through the areas where fresh plants have been planted. In this regard, fencing of such plants will prove you a good idea.
- Think about the time you can spare for watering and maintaining the plants of your garden. You plantation area should be in proportion of the time you can spare for its maintenance and the garden layout should reflect the same.
- The layouts must include the sources of water and the amount of water your garden will require on a regular basis.
